My GSC Story

GSC has allowed me to achieve my goal of becoming a teacher, without having to change my whole life. Through online courses, field experience, and working in a district, I didn't need to "stop working" to student teach which was better for me and my family, and financially! GSC educators are very knowledgable and realistic. I received my bachelor's degree and dual teaching certification in only a few years - Granite State College is the best option for students who want to maintain their life and career while furthering their education.

With Valentine's Day fast approaching, I fondly think of those I love - among these names is one I have been proud to be acquainted with for quite some time. Since 1996, when I first met all the great people representing what was then referred to as The College for Lifelong Learning, I have continued to be impressed. I love that I have consistently been privileged to meet so many students, faculty, and staff, as well as many others who may have affiliation with the college. I love that each and every person has been exceptionally helpful, knowledgeable, friendly, encouraging, and kind. I love that I can say that with full integrity because the college environment is based on a feeling of community and fellowship. I love that only the highest academic integrity is upheld within all realms of the college atmosphere. I am privileged to be able to say that I loved the college before, and I fell back in love with it when I returned as an alumni to complete my Bachelor's degree. I love the new name I saw upon returning: Granite State College. I love that it continues to provide the same nourishing academic environment as always. I love the fact that academic plans are individualized to fit any student's needs. I love the variety of up-to-date courses, as well as the fact that each is taught by a highly-qualified instructor, whether online, or in a classroom. I love that many options exist to complete course requirements, such as CLEP and individual classes at times. I love the online tutoring available. I love that students seem to always "Moodle" through successfully! I may not have a Valentine this year, but that's ok, because Granite State College won my heart many years ago! What do I love about Granite State College? Everything!

Granite State College has a special place in my heart, not only because I completed my associate degree here years ago, but because of all the choices in colleges, I decided to come back here to finish my bachelor's degree. I've had nothing but positive experiences and, as a single working mom, I'm happy to be able to have the choice to take online classes to further my career. The advisors helpful and supportive, helping you reach your goals for the future. This is why I love GSC!

I am currently taking the last required course to fulfill my degree program at Granite State College. Without online learning, I would not have been able to learn on my own terms when it was most convenient. It was not an option for me to miss out on school events that my children were participating in or to have to reschedule my work hours in order to be in a classroom. Thanks to GSC for making my education possible without compromising my job or family.

I decided to go back to school in the fall of 2010. I knew that if I were going to be successful, I needed to choose a school that would work with my hectic schedule. At that time I was a mother of two with another due any day, worked full time, and had the crazy schedule of any other busy parent. I knew that I needed to just jump in head first if I was going to follow through with pursuing my dreams. And so I did. My first semester of classes at Granite State College began the day I was released from the hospital after giving birth to my third child. I've never looked back. I'm now only a couple semesters shy of finishing my bachelor's degree (and expecting a surprise fourth child around the start of the summer classes...which should be my final semester!!!) This never would have been possible without the flexibility of GSC's online classes, and the support of both the amazing faculty and my peers. I am so grateful to you all!

The thing that I like about Granite State College is the choice of degrees, along with the convenience of being able to complete classes online. It helps ensure that everybody, no matter what their circumstances are, has the time to complete a college degree without having the stress of going to classes.

This is my second semester with GSC and I am currently in the online program working  towards my B.S. in Healthcare Management. It had been six years since I had been in college and it was a bit scary to start over again. I called and set up an appointment with an academic advisor and they walked me through all of the details and guided me on what I needed to do. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and always offered a helping hand. The staff made the new adventure much more comfortable and inspired me to continue so I thank them for that. I love the convenience of being able to work full time, spend time with family, and still maintain going to school by doing it online. This has been a great experience for me and I look forward to continuing my education through Granite State College.

I returned to college six years after graduating high school. That may not sound like a long time to most, but I was not very confident in myself learning wise, and I was very hesitant to return to school. The staff at Granite State College (from the administration to my academic coach) were so helpful and kind - they really improved my outlook on college. My first instructor, Pat, was fantastic and assisted me with building my self confidence and helping me realize my potential as a student. I passed fall term with a 4.0 and couldn't believe it at first! The Concord campus is beautiful and I enjoy learning online as well. There are so many options, you really can't go wrong. I am so extremely grateful to GSC, and I look forward to earning my degree here!

I love Granite State College! I am an online student and absolutely love the flexibility and still have the support and attention necessary to be a successful student. As a first time online student, I feared that I would be "on my own" - that is not the case! I have met (through on-line introduction), and actually feel that I am getting to know my classmates and teachers. Everyone is so helpful and the availability of the professors is incredible! They are willing to meet in online chat, in person, or provide resources to assist in students success. Thanks for the wonderful experience and education GSC!

Granite State College made it easy for me to sign up for classes! This term, I took my first online class ever - I was nervous about it, but the class has clear expectations and guidelines and I still feel like I am part of a community because I am able to give/receive feedback to/from the students in the class. Thanks GSC for making the transition to online classes a breeze!

I always knew I wanted to go to college, but never knew what I wanted to do. I finally decided that I wanted to start taking classes and see where it led me. I'm only in my second semester, but I couldn't be happier with Granite State College. Between my advisor, the teachers I've dealt with this far, and anyone I've come in contact with, including the financial aid office, I couldn't be happier. Everyone is so helpful and patient - and the classes are easy to negotiate through. I didn't realize there would also be tutorials to help with someone (like me) who has never done online learning before. Every part of Granite State College has been amazing!

I love Granite State College because I can go to college any time of the day. No lectures, no class schedules to wake me up - just me, my cup of coffee, and a good ol' fashion text book. The thought of online learning was daunting at first, but I've actually come to enjoy it.

After nearly failing out of high school and actually failing out of college as a teenager, I thought I would never be someone who could earn a degree. I don't learn well in the classroom. After several years passed, I finally decided that I wanted to find a way to make it work on my own terms and Granite State College offered me that opportunity. Online classes are amazing - they let me accomplish something I never thought I would and I am so thankful. I have a lot of support when I need it, but freedom to learn in my own way. Not only have I made it through into my second year of school, but I'm getting good grades - I even made deans list!

Granite State College came into my life just when I needed it. I had previously gone to college for two years, but needed to finish my degree. With my work schedule being all over the place, I didn't know how I was ever going to finish school. When I found out there was a school close to me that offered campuses all over the state, classes in the classroom, and classes online, I knew what I needed to do. I applied to GSC and haven't looked back. Everyone I've talked to has been very helpful and I know that I will succeed here and finish my degree!

When Granite State College offered the Master of Science Program in Project Management in an online setting at an affordable rate, I jumped at the opportunity. I had been looking for a Master's Degree Program specifically in my career field as a Project Manager, and this provided me the opportunity to go back to school while maintaining an extremely busy work and home schedule. The instructors are knowledgeable, engaging, and encouraging, and the cirriculum is extremely relevant for today's project managers. I would highly recommend this program to other individuals.

Where to start? I love the genuine respect that the professors at GSC give, and the enthusiastic, superior service of all the staff; the breadth of class style choices - from weekend intensives, overnights, online, hybrids and face-to-face; the opportunity to LEARN, stretch, and challenge yourself; the chance to develop and grow among a group of dedicated peers; the affordable cost; the diversity of majors . . . there is so much to love about Granite State College!

I love how Granite State College is local yet offers online classes. And by local, it means 45 mins away from me. Online classes fit my life better then in-class courses. My life is busy with a full time job and beng a full time mom/wife. Thank you for having online classes! I am showing my twin daughters, who are 3 years old, you can do whatever you want to do - doesn't matter what's going on with your life. I can't wait to graduate in June from Granite State College.
