The Rocking Horse

I had the privilege of having my grandson for a whole week. His daddy is coming in from Norfolk, VA as he is in the Navy and does not get to see his oldest son very often. His mom is in TN and was so kind to meet me in Knoxville so I could pick up Aiden. I had him for a full week and oh what a full week it was.  I was so excited and my friend brought me over his old rocking horse that he had got out of his folks basement. Remembering myself of the Buster Brown Rocking horse that used to be at the shoe stores when I was young, it brought back many memories.  The horse needed to have a new handle constructed but with some help of the owner and the owners great friends, the task was complete and the horse was ready for a certain little boy to ride him.

Grandson on the Rocking-HorseAiden just really enjoyed the rocking-horse. He kept telling my friend that it squeaked and needed some WD-40 but he continued to get him rocking as fast as he could. On my wall close to where we had it sitting was my Granite State College Degree hanging on the wall. I told him what it was but he didn't understand at this young age the significance of that piece of paper. I will continue to encourage him throughout his childhood, young adulthood to go to college. Learning is so important throughout ones life.

We went to the library while he was here and brought home about twenty or so books. One night we read about ten of them. He sat there, listened and learned about what the story was about in each and every book. He asked questions, I answered. He was learning.  I was thrilled to have him with me for a week and enjoy all these moments with him. I enjoy watching him grow, mentally as well as physically. It was a good week, I hope to have him again soon for another wonderful week with Grammy!!
